Law of Attraction and Lottery Myths
You can't use the law of attraction to win the lottery - or can you? Many law of
attraction experts say no, it's not possible. Have you ever questioned this assertion?
Below are some common "myths" about using the law of attraction to win the lottery, and a
differing perspective that may help you make up your own mind on the matter:
Myth #1 - Wanting to Win the Lottery is Selfish
You've probably heard the "gurus" say that wanting a large jackpot is a selfish goal, and
some of them even say that wanting a lot of money from any source is selfish. You should spend all of your
time giving to others, not worrying about what you're getting in return. I think we can all agree that
generosity is a good thing, but that doesn't mean wanting financial security is wrong, either.
Truth: ALL Goals are "Selfish"
If you want to obtain a better paying job, that's selfish. If you want to attract
your soul mate, that's selfish. If you want to receive anything for yourself, technically it's a selfish
goal, right? Even so-called "selfless" goals aren't completely selfless if you stand to gain anything at all,
even just a good feeling about helping someone or contributing to the world in a positive way. You're still
getting something from the exchange.
Myth #2 - The Universe Won't Give You "Something for Nothing"
Another argument about the lottery and law of attraction is that you can't get something
for nothing; the universe just won't support those desires.
You have to give something of value if you want to receive something of
value.
But haven't you given value and not received anything in return? And haven't you
received something of value without giving anything first? I know I have!
Truth: The Universe Gives You What You ASK For
Here's the funny thing; if you believe you can't get something for nothing, nothing will
come unless you give. But if you believe that the universe simply answers your requests, it probably
will.
I hope none of those experts have ever accepted a gift, or a helping hand, or a kind
compliment - that would be getting something for nothing, oops!
Personally I find it hard to believe that the universe is sitting up there with a
calculator, tallying up how much I've given and received in my lifetime, and deciding whether I'm "worthy" of
receiving something else. I ask, and I receive. Ask, and receive. Ask, and receive. Oh yes,
I give plenty too, not because I'm hoping to receive more, but because it makes me feel good to give - but even
that good feeling means I'm receiving something.
Myth #3 - Others Have to Lose for You to Win the Lottery
Another common myth is that there is only so much money to go around, and if you win a
jackpot no one else can win. Ironically, the same experts who say this also keep telling people that we live
in a truly abundant, limitless universe. Which is it? Either abundance is limited or it's not - I
choose to believe it's not.
Truth: There is More Than Enough for Everyone!
It's true that if one person wins a jackpot in a specific game on a specific day, no one
else can win that jackpot (except for games that allow multiple winners). But is that the only jackpot in the
world? And don't most games also have smaller prize amounts that people can win? No one has to lose so
others can win. There are thousands of different lottery games and millions of prizes that can be won.
Some of the games are repeated daily, some bi-weekly or weekly, and new scratch games are released
constantly. There are more than enough prizes for everyone who wants to win.
